The Art of Flamenco: Lorca and Falla

Ismena Collective's first concert of the season celebrates the 1922 collaboration of composer Manuel de Falla and poet Federico Garcia Lorca, the year Falla and Lorca organised the Concurso de Cante Jondo, to honour the Spanish art of flamenco. The Concurso attracted the participation of other well-known composers from Joaquin Turina and Frederico Mompou to Debussy and Stravinsky and inspired Lorca's Poema del Cante Jondo, a series of ballad-like verses which speak of birth, love, time and death. Immerse yourself in the powerful and haunting world of the musical and poetic art of Flamenco. With Clara Kanter mezzo-soprano, Mayda Narvey cello, Charis Hanning piano and with special guest, poet, translator and reader Isabel del Rio. Tickets at the door: £12/£10 Under 26 free!
